Alan Walters Café will be single-use plastic-free throughout July.
It’s Food Fellows’ response to the University community’s vote to reduce plastic on campus – and the trial will help the team see how customers respond to being asked to bring their own cups.
There’s already a 25p discount off hot drinks purchased in reusable cups at all Food Fellows outlets.
This initiative takes things a step further, by removing all single-use cups from Alan Walters Café, for a month-long trial. Reusable cups will be available to buy instore starting from £2.
It follows the winning initiative at this year’s Shaping Sustainability at University of Birmingham Competition, which called for a ‘comprehensive review of all food and drink services on campus to see if it would be possible to phase out the sale and use of single-use plastics for food and drink…and create a lasting cultural shift on campus’.
Help us change habits for a plastic-free future by bringing your own cup to campus.
