My Journey to InStudents
InStudents is a very personal mission. The way we work is we find gaps in the education system and create projects around them. So, we’re just finding gaps and creating projects that will help education.
The other organisation, PathFinder Foundation, was actually a small project that we started at the University of Birmingham, and now it has become its own non-for-profit organisation. It has been a mission of mine to ensure that every kid, no matter where they're born, should get those kinds of opportunities.
My Birmingham Experience
As a student in Birmingham, I really enjoyed my time here. Birmingham has everything that you need from a city. It has an incredible city centre where there are all these big organisations where you can get an internship, build your CV, and gain work experience. But it also has an incredible campus that is just a 15-minute bus ride away—where it's quieter, with an incredible mix of people from diverse backgrounds who are here to make a better life for themselves.
The reason why I selected the University of Birmingham for my Master's degree was because I was really impressed by the MSc Management programme. The moment I stepped foot on campus, there were so many things going on. There are people here who are rooting for you and supporting you at every step.
As an international student, moving to a different country is overwhelming. You are thousands of miles away from your family. The moment I arrived in Birmingham, there was this really friendly vibe. Every single individual was here to support and help you.
There was a Postgraduate Ambassador who helped me understand everything really patiently. And from that moment onwards, I knew that this is a place where I could ask questions, be myself, and make mistakes—because there are people here to help me through that.
Birmingham's Impact
The support from the University does not end when you graduate. As a former Business School student, I am still supported by the incredible B-Enterprising team, and I still have access to the Careers Network through the Business School.
Also, you will become a part of an incredible alumni network where, honestly, the opportunities are endless.
My Achievements
Honestly, both InStudents and PathFinder would not have been possible without the incredible support I received from the University of Birmingham.
Advice for Students
My advice to all current students or students who are applying to come here is: say yes to every opportunity. You are here on this incredible campus, one of the best universities in the world, for a very limited amount of time. So make sure that you utilise every single resource.
And if you are an international student who wants to start their own organisation in the UK, hopefully, my story will give you the confidence and courage to do so.
