Course overview
Explore the full range of materials used in Endodontology with the Advanced Materials course, covering their chemical, physical, mechanical, antimicrobial, and biological properties in depth.
During this course the specific characteristics and the optimal methods for handling and placing each material will be explored to prepare you for different clinical scenarios.
The restoration of the endodontically treated teeth using different methods will also be dealt with in detail as the inability to restore the teeth leads to treatment failure.
Course delivery
In addition to lectures, you'll also have independent clinical sessions in your own practices to be able to practice the techniques you have learnt in this module.
Content
On completion, you should be able to:
- Have knowledge and understanding of the range of materials available and the properties of the different materials used for vital pulp therapy and how they should be used clinically.
- Appreciate the clinical protocols necessary to restore a tooth after vital pulp therapy.
- Know the material properties of NiTi and its relevance to endodontic therapy
- Use different methods to restore endodontically treated teeth.
- Know the properties of materials used for root canal obturation and appreciate the need of choosing the right material for specific techniques.
- Have knowledge of the properties of restorative materials and bonding strategies.
