Moving into your accommodation

Moving into halls is an exciting time. It’s the beginning of your student journey and life in Birmingham – and we’re here to ease you in as you start this new adventure.
Before you arrive
Book your room
Book your room
So long as you have secured your place at Birmingham and applied for accommodation by our Guarantee Scheme deadlines, we will invite you to book your room within five days of A-level Results Day. You’ll be given a timeslot to book your room within through the Accommodation Portal.
To ensure you can feel at home from day one, you’ll be able to choose the exact room you want, filtering by price, room type, catering type, and more. To secure your room, you will need to pay a £550 Advance Payment. This is a non-refundable instalment towards your accommodation fees.
Complete your Accommodation Pass
Complete your Accommodation Pass
The Accommodation Pass is your comprehensive guide to living at Birmingham. It contains all the information you need during your time with us, from key contacts to what to do in an emergency. Please read this carefully before you move in – it’s an essential part of your student induction.
Book your arrival slot

Once you’ve completed the Accommodation Pass, you can book your arrival timeslot for your new home. This is the time and date you will arrive at your accommodation. Timeslots are spaced out across Arrivals Weekend to ensure that everyone can move into their accommodation smoothly.

When you arrive
Check in to your new home

Checking in is easy. Simply visit your village reception to let us know you’ve arrived and use your student ID card to access your room.
You should receive your ID in the post if your home address is in the UK and you’ve completed your online registration before you arrive on campus. If you’re an international student, you can collect yours from our Welcome Hub in the centre of campus during Welcome Week.
If you haven’t got your ID card, don’t worry. Your village reception will issue you a key card – all you need is proof of booking and some form of identification.
