Ambika Sharma Solanki is an Associate Professor in Accounting at the University of Birmingham, with over two decades of experience across academia and professional practice. She is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and a member of ICAEW, a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), and holds a BA (Econ) (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from The University of Manchester alongside a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.

 

Ambika is currently the Programme Director for the MSc Accounting and Finance and previously served as the Programme Director for the BSc Accounting and Finance from 2020 to 2025. She leads the Financial Accounting and Accountability module and contributes extensively to teaching in Financial Reporting and Audit and Assurance, drawing on her prior industry experience as an Audit Manager at KPMG.

 

Before joining the University of Birmingham, Ambika held the role of Senior Teaching Fellow at Birmingham City University. Her academic practice is informed by a deep commitment to student success, curriculum innovation, and embedding employability, digital literacy, and global perspectives into business education. She is actively involved in enhancing learning and teaching through cross-campus and international initiatives and holds a particular interest in the integration of creativity and well-being into accounting pedagogy.
