Energy

This unit underpins the strong collaborations with other Schools at the University of Birmingham and reflects energy research being one of six cross-council strategic priority areas for RCUK. The research connects chemical activity in the following areas, with much of it supported by the Birmingham Energy Institute.

- The Birmingham Centre for Strategic Elements and Critical Materials, researching into new materials and processes to replace others that currently use expensive or at-risk elements
- The Industrial Doctorate Centre in Formulation Engineering (EngD) run by the School of Chemical Engineering.
- Reusing and Recycling Energy Technologies at Birmingham, which brings together academics from different backgrounds in order to develop, trial and assess technologies for extending the life of energy technologies.
