We have a collaborative relationship with the Academy of Social Sciences. Championing the vital role social sciences play in education, government, and business, the Academy is the sector’s leading independent voice in the UK.
The Academy’s Campaign for Social Science highlights the value of applied social science research and advocates for its greater use in decision-making and in government.
As a Gold Level Supporter, we help to promote the benefits of investing in the social sciences and demonstrate their essential role in improving our society. Over 50 of our academics are Fellows of the Academy, elected for their substantial contributions to the field.
We are actively engaged in exciting projects with the Academy, including our contribution to the ‘Beyond the ballot’ report. This report draws together insights from leading social scientists on eight key policy issues, highlighting the great potential of social science research to inform policy and practice.
Our Head of College, Professor Nick Vaughan-Williams FAcSS, is Chair of the Academy’s Forum for Leaders in Social Sciences and Professor Chris Millward FAcSS (School of Education) is a Trustee.
